The Irish actor shared that he had to speak authentic Italian for over 15% of his screen time. “So, I’m an Irishman playing an American speaking Italian, but I’m also an Irishman playing an American imitating another American, speaking Italian,” he explained, highlighting the complexity of the role.

Scott described the pressure to get it right as a matter of personal pride. “It was genuinely terrifying,” he admitted, joking that the experience still makes him nervous. His portrayal of Tom Ripley received widespread acclaim, with critics praising his performance as “mesmerizing” and “transcendent.”

In addition to Ripley, Scott’s career has been marked by standout performances, including his role as The Priest in Fleabag, alongside Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and his work in 1917.
