The film earned $366 million worldwide. The franchise total ticked above the $2 billion mark at the box office thanks to the release of 2021’s “The Devil made me do it”. The ninth “Conjuring” film, 2023’s “The Nun II,” picked up an additional $269 million worldwide.

The “Conjuring” announcement comes with the added news that Maggie Gyllenhaal’s “The Bride!” will move release dates from October 3 to September 26, 2025. Christian Bale is Frankenstein’s monster and Jessie Buckley is the eponymous bride in Gyllenhaal’s period film (set in 1930s Chicago), which puts a spin on the iconic Frankenstein lore also stars Penélope Cruz, Peter Sarsgaard and Annette Bening. The film is follow-up to Gyllenhaal’s critically acclaimed directorial debut “The Lost Daughter,” released by Netflix in 2021.

‘The Conjuring: Last Rites’- is poised to close the curtain on a horror saga that redefined the genre and has expanded to include prequel, sequel and spinoff titles like “The Nun,” “Annabelle” and “The Curse of La Llorona.”
